Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for Daily Drop-In Yoga Classes in Varkala
Eligibility for daily drop-in yoga classes in Varkala is typically open to anyone who meets basic physical and mental health standards. While specific criteria can vary by studio or instructor, the following general guidelines apply:
Age: Most yoga studios accept participants of all ages, with some offering classes designed for children, teens, or seniors. However, many classes have an age minimum (e.g., 16 years and older) to ensure safety and maturity.
Class Capacity: While not always a strict rule, some studios may limit the number of participants in a class to ensure quality instruction. It’s always best to check in advance if pre-booking is necessary.
Health Considerations: Participants should be in good physical health. Those with chronic medical conditions, recent surgeries, or pregnancy may need to consult their doctor before joining or inform the instructor of any concerns. Many studios offer prenatal or therapeutic classes to cater to specific health needs.
Components of Yogic Practice: By identifying every individual's Doshas (unique blend of energies) and suggesting the lifestyle choices which support overall balance, Ayurveda works to prepare the body and mind for deeper yogic practices. There are 3 Doshas in every human body, namely; Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Harmony of these three will boost the experience of other yogic practices for you. By improving the eating habits and going through some lifestyle modifications, Ayurveda will address the Doshas, making your yoga practice easier.

The drop-in yoga classes in Varkala provide a variety of yoga styles. This benefits people who are in the town for a shorter duration but still want to learn about yoga practices. The different yoga styles taught in a daily yoga class are listed below:
Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga is a classical form of yoga and is considered as the foundation for other kinds of yoga styles. Hatha signifies willfulness to perform an activity. The use of Hatha yoga is for preparing your body to hold a yoga pose for longer duration and strengthening your core muscles. A typical Hatha yoga session in the drop-in yoga classes starts by performing asanas along with controlled breathwork and pranayama and ends with meditation. The Hatha yoga sessions are where students learn about practicing asanas according to their bodies. With our master yoga instructors, we make sure to help every student in getting familiar with their body alignment and perform asanas according to their bodily requirements.
Ashtanga Yoga
K. Pattabhi Jois introduced and popularized Ashtanga yoga, which is a more rigorous form of yoga than Hatha yoga. This is a structured sequence of asanas which consists of coordination of breath with flow of movements. According to the Patanjali sutras, Ashtanga yoga comprises eight steps which lead to yoga, also known as eight limbs. The yoga poses are created keeping these eight limbs of Patanjali Sutras in mind.
